A promising Nigerian footballer has been charged with assault after a lady, Krystal Mission, 21, was allegedly attacked outside a south London nightclub on New Year’s Day.

Andrew Akingbaje, 23, was charged with actual bodily harm following the alleged assault outside Lotus nightclub, on Clapham High Street, at 4am on Tuesday.

He has also been charged with two counts of assault by beating against two other women who were also allegedly attacked during the same incident. A video of the alleged violence has been widely shared on social media.

However, appearing at the Camberwell Magistrates’ Court, in London, today, Akingbaje pleaded not guilty to all offences and was released on conditional bail until January 31, when he will next appear.
