A 25-year-old Italian man has been sentenced to one year and eight months in jail for attacking a Nigerian migrant.

Giuseppe D’Amore hit Fredrick Omonzokpia with a jack, in Bagheria on August, 31, 2018, after spotting him in front of an ice cream shop and getting offended by his skin color.

According to reports, D’Amore initially told Omonzokpia to return to his country. A fight later broke out between the duo, but they were separated.

However, the convict later returned with a jack and hit Omonzokpia with it. At the court, on Thursday, the victim was awarded €5k in compensation.
