The Nigeria Labour Congress in Lagos on Thursday blocked workers of Coca-Cola and Lagos Television in Agidingbi area of Ikeja from going to work in an effort to enforce its nationwide strike over minimum wage.

Concise News team monitoring level of compliance in respect to the strike observed that staff of both Coca-Cola and LTV were left to hang outside their office complexes as members of the labour unions blocked them from gaining access into their various work places.

The Nigeria Labour Congress had directed all its members and affiliate unions to commence a nationwide strike on Thursday (Today).

The organised labour had held a meeting with the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, in Abuja on Wednesday, which did not produce the expected outcome.

The workers are demanding a new minimum wage of about N50,000 from the current national minimum wage of N18,000.
