The remains of the victim being carried away by family members and the car he was in

Barley 24 hours after armed robbers struck in the North Industrial Area in Accra in broad daylight, a similar incident happened in Tema.

A group of men brazenly robbed Ahmed Safiadeen, 54 years old – said to be a Lebanese and cashier with Delta Agro Limited – at the Heavy Industrial Area, killing him in the process.

Mr. Safiadeen was said to be returning from the Industrial Area branch of the Zenith Bank yesterday after withdrawing GH¢200,000 meant for the payment of salaries of the company’s workers, when he was accosted by four heavily armed men on board a four-wheel drive vehicle.

He was shot at the back of his head and other parts of his body when the suspects fired indiscriminately into the white Toyota Corolla with registration number GN 1174-12, which he was driving.

Mr. Safiadeen’s car stopped when he was hit by the bullets and the suspected robbers ransacked his car before they sped off with their booty, leaving the victim to his fate.

Good Samaritans quickly rushed the victim to the Raphael Hospital at Tema but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Meanwhile, the mortal remains of Mr. Safiadeen have been deposited at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra pending autopsy.

Confirming the incident to DAILY GUIDE, DCOP George Tufour, Tema Regional Police Commander, said they had launched a manhunt for the armed robbers.

He added that the incident occurred at about 10:30 am.

The Regional Commander said the robbers, who were armed to the teeth, fired several shots into Mr. Safiadeen’s car before robbing him of the said amount.

“Police got information of the incident and moved to the crime scene. Investigations so far revealed that the victim, after the bank transaction, was on his way to the office in his Toyota Corolla salon car when he was suddenly accosted by the four armed men a few metres from his work,” according to DCOP Tufour.”

He appealed to the public to provide information that would lead to the arrest of the suspects.
