Outdoor wedding venues are not only magical but also suitable for the minimalist couple. Halls can be boring and typical, especially with the balloons and traditional decor.

With outdoor wedding venues, however, you get fresh air, minimal decorations and limited guests – if your Nigerian mother permits. Granted that outdoor venues require thinking outside the box, there are also other factors to consider. For instance, the rainy season is not a great time to host any outdoor event. Additionally, it is imperative to coordinate the colour theme and decor to the venue doesn’t look like a circus.

Sorting out the logistics of an outdoor venue is not as great as a challenge as finding one. Like many of us who grew up watching TV, we all dreamed of a quiet beach wedding or even in a garden. Admittedly, beach weddings are rare as per Nigerian mothers and their fear of the beach. However, there are other beautiful venues in the country and here are some of them:

1. Agodi Gardens, Ibadan

(Trip Advisor)

Located in Ibadan, the garden is one of the most stunning locations in the city. In addition to the gorgeous scenery, the garden also has a water view that can serve as a reception venue.

2. Muri Okunola Park, Victoria Island, Lagos

(Space Book)

The park is easily one of the most popular in the country and is located on the island. According to events booking sites, it costs roughly N400k – N600k to have a wedding at the park.

3. Jaekel House, Yaba

(African Arts With Taj)

Located at the railway Musuem in Yaba, this artifact is one of the oldest buildings in Nigeria. Bearing the vintage colonial designs, this venue is frame-worthy and will suit ‘alté’ soon-be-married couples. Additionally, the house boasts of a secret garden which is perfect for wedding receptions.  According to a 2017 report by hotels.ng, hosting an event at the venue costs N150,000 excluding decorations.

4. La Campagne Tropicana

(Fly Boku)

We added this one for the beach wedding enthusiasts! La Campagne Tropicana is an exotic resort located in Lekki. This venue, however, is not for the fainthearted, in other words, you better have the coins!

Honourable Mention

5. Jhalobia Recreation Park and Gardens

(Jhalobia Gardens)

Easily one of the most stunning venues on this list. The park is located in Ikeja, along Murtala Mohammed Airport Road. The stunning scenery is adorned with foliage and beautiful sculptures.
