It was an emotional send off as family and friends uncontrollably watched the body of the slain University student leader lowered to final resting place.

Meru University College of Science and Technology Students’ Association leader Evans Njoroge alias Evans Kidero died February, 27 on the spot after anti-rioting police shot.

He was buried at their Longonot home.

Witnesses alleged that police chased after him before killing him at close range, in what appeared to be a bullet to the head during student protests.

The bloodied lifeless body of the 23-year-old was later recovered in a local cassava farm by witnesses who claimed the police followed the late student to his hide out before firing.

Njoroge, was leading students protests against a number of reforms including fee increase.

Education Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed on March 6 sent the university Vice Chancellor Josephat Magambo on terminal leave pending investigations.
