No fewer than nine youths are believed to have lost their lives in Kasuwan Magani, a suburb of Kaduna metropolis, in a fresh clash between Muslim and Christian youths over alleged inducement and subsequent conversion of two Christian girls into Islam.
NATIONAL ACCORD investigations revealed that the clash, which reportedly led to the burning of a Catholic Church, may have degenerated into a major uprising, were it not for the timely intervention of security agents.
Concerned indigenes and residents in the state told our Correspondent in separate interviews that the security situation in country was fast getting out of hand and called on the federal government to take urgent and deliberate steps to reverse the ugly trend before it gets out of hand.

Gov el-Rufai of Kaduna
Meanwhile, Governor Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai of Kaduna state has pledged to prosecute all persons involved in the Monday mayhem in Kasuwan Magani of the Kajuru local government area of the state.
Kasuwan Magani, a commercial centre in Kajuru local government area of Kaduna State, is about 36km away from Kaduna metropolis. 20 persons were said to have sustained various degrees of injuries in the fracas between Christian and Muslim youths, which left property worth millions of Naira including vehicles destroyed.
The Sole Administrator of Kajuru Local Government area, Alhaji Aminu Rabiu confirmed that the disagreement among the Christian and Mulslim youths led to to the wanton loss of lives which could have been averted.
“The quick response of the security agencies helped in restoring normalcy” he said, pointing out that already all the injured persons have been moved to the hospital and are responding to treatment.
While appealing to the people in the affected area to embrace peace, he told the people to go about their legitimate businesses without fear as the security agents were fully on ground to checkmate any eventuality.
Spokesman of the Kaduna State Police Command, Mr. Murkhtar Aliyu confirmed the story and informed that the Command has since deployed troops to the troubled area.
In the same vein, Spokesman of the governor of the state, Mr Samuel Aruwan condemned the violence, regretting the wanton loss of lives.
He conveyed the state government’s sympathy and condolences to the victims and their families, disclosing that the State Emergency Management Agency has been directed to take inventory of damages and provide relief materials to the victims.
