A woman has been photographed giving birth inside a bush as the doctor’s strike in Uganda enters day seven.

The woman delivered at a bush outside Kamuli General Hospital and was assisted by Good Samaritans to bring forth life.

She could not get medical attention from the hospital after the health workers downed tools demanding that the government address their grievances.

According to Watch Dog Uganda, the striking health workers had promised to cater for emergencies like accidents, child delivery among others but the woman was not able to get assistance.

The doctors went on strike on Monday, November 6 paralysing services in all public hospitals.

The industrial action was declared after their annual general assembly at Makerere University College of Health Sciences in Mulago.

The health workers are demanding for a salary increment, duty allowances, disbandment of State House Medical and Health Service Delivery Unit among other thorny issues.

Their strike mirrors that of Kenyan nurses which went for more than 150 days and only ended recently.
